Alec Baldwin’s Words With Friends-based drama last week on an American Airlines flight served not only to cast the actor in a slightly negative public light, but has also apparently caused some outrage among flight attendants.
Baldwin’s popular NBC sitcom 30 Rock is part of in-flight entertainment on many domestic flights, the flight attendant’s union would like to see that changed in light of Baldwin’s recent transgressions. Baldwin made some unfavorable comparisons between the staff on the American flight he was booted from and 1950’s Catholic school staff on Twitter (deleting his account soon after) and the incident was widely publicized. In response, the flight attendant’s union released a statement that read in part:
“The APFA has requested that American Airlines remove the show from future flights, but would be agreeable to implementing it again if and only if Mr. Baldwin publicly apologizes to American Airlines flight attendants.”
Which, while it sounds reasonable on the surface, also kind of reminds you of flight attendants holding their microscopic cans of pineapple juice over your head until you put your seat belt on. Do you sympathize with Baldwin or the flight attendants?
