AOL Europe is losing its vice president of marketing and communications as Sarah Gavin steps down from her role as the company looks to cut certain roles and consolidate others.
Gavin has been with the company for almost six years, moving around to different roles within the organization including time spent with failed social network Bebo.
At this time it’s still unclear if Gavin has stepped down to take another outside position.
Gavin’s announcement comes just after AOL appointed Jimmy Maymann as the company’s European head of operations, a move that is expected to result in “double digit” job losses.
When asked about changes coming to the company an AOL spokesman wouldn’t confirm which positions would be removed from the organizations structure but they added:
“With change there often comes difficult decisions and unfortunately a very small number of roles across the organization will be impacted as a result.”
AOL announced that they would cut nearly 900 jobs after acquiring HuffingtonPost for $315m. Most of those cuts are expected to come from US and India market where duplicate positions were created when the HuffPost buyout was finalized.
