Say what you will about groups like PETA but I would definitely rather take them on than get into it with any serious mommy blogger – those ladies don’t mess around.
Disney isn’t a company to pass up any opportunity to appeal to ‘families’ and especially those that really run the families – the moms. So it is no real surprise that at some point Disney would find a way to get a more direct line to that powerful demographic, of which the mommy bloggers are an extremely powerful voice of.
When it comes to a platform for those mommy bloggers one of the most recognizable names would have to be Babble Media which currently plays home to over 200 mommy bloggers and all their readers. So it really shouldn’t be that much of a surprise that Disney would look at the company as a prime acquisition.
An acquisition, which was first reported by AllThingsD, that has apparently been concluded; although no terms of the deal have been disclosed at this point.
“Parents’ relationships with Disney are founded in stories, and Disney’s best stories are about families,” said Brooke Chaffin, senior vp of moms and family, Disney Interactive Media Group, in a statement. “We believe that Babble and Disney can harness the power of storytelling to inform, entertain and empower parents everywhere. With more than 3.9 million mom blogs in the U.S. alone, Disney Interactive recognizes and values the important and powerful role moms have taken on in new media.”
