Cablevision, the company behind iO Digital Cable, and Turner Broadcasting’s TV Everywhere have brokered a deal that will bring programming from TBS, TNT, CNN, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, and truTV to subscribers iPads, iPods and iPhones.
Cablevision recently released an app for the devices that permitted some full-length programs, but the new deal should extend the breadth of their content for mobile significantly. The iO app already included the service’s 300 channels as well as thousands of VOD offerings, and the Turner deal adds content from networks like CNN and HLN.
Excutive VP of product management at Cablevision John Trierweiler commented on the deal he says is a significant value-add for iO subscribers:
“Cablevision broke new ground with the launch of our Optimum apps, which allow our customers to experience their full cable television service on a variety of devices in the home. We’re pleased to be working with Turner to provide additional out-of-the-home and Web viewing options for our customers as well, offering the ability to experience the cable television service they have already paid for on new devices in a range of settings.”
Turner’s TV Everywhere includes access to shows like The Closer, Adventure Time, CONAN, Childrens Hospital, Leverage and AC 360 through their stable of networks. iO customers will simply need to log on to the iO app with their Cablevision ID to access the new content, and programming will be accessible 24 hours after its standard TV availability.
