After a short fling, microblogging site Twitter and public relations firm Edelman have parted ways.
AdAge reports that the official reason behind the short dalliance is management shakeups at Twitter, and a source at Edelman seems to confirm the break-up cause as changes in the executive roster. Speaking to the magazine, the unnamed Edelman staffer says:
“We were asked to present some ideas on how they could engage consumers… We did what we were asked and sort of moved on.”
The Edelman insider continues:
“It wasn’t material for our [West Coast] operations, let alone Edelman. It would not have a been a large account for us or for anyone other than a very small boutique. It was less about the money than the opportunity to work with Twitter.”
Edelman and Twitter’s divergent paths also coincide with the departure of Pam Kramer from Twitter. Kramer was the company’s first Vice President of Consumer Marketing, and left in October, followed by head of communications Sean Garrett. Twitter declined comment on its PR strategy going forward.
