The Huffington Post hasn’t stopped snatching up big names for their ever-expanding series of verticals within the site, as evidenced by a new acquisition for the ‘Gay Voices’ vertical on HuffPo.
Prominent Sirius XM talk show host and author of the book Queer in America Michelangelo Signorile, 50, joins prominent figures Nora Ephron and Rita Wilson in heading up channels on Arianna Huffington’s blog, among other big hires. (Ephron is in charge of the Divorce vertical, while Wilson manages the Over 50 channel.) The New York Observer cited a press release in which Signorile’s role and background were touched upon:
Mr. Signorile, 50, gained notoriety in the ’80s and ’90s as co-founding editor of OutWeek, in which he routinely outed closeted gay public figures. Arianna Huffington told Politico that Mr. Signorile will serve as a bridge to the LGBT community for the site… According to the press release, Mr. Signorile will “offer commentary and analysis, live-blog events, assist with assigning story coverage, and enlist a wide array of voices to contribute to the conversations of interest to the gay community and beyond.”
The site goes on to mention that Signorile has also held the position of editor-at-large at both the Advocate and Out.
