Research in Motion (RIM) is investigating reports of BlackBerry delays, but has not confirmed any particular scope of delay nor any region specifically impacted by a new BlackBerry outage.
The company tweeted roughly an hour ago:
We’re getting reports that some users are experiencing delays. We’re investigating and will update you ASAP.
The Wall Street Journal obtained official comment from RIM regarding the reports of delays and suggests that some regions outside the US may be the ones affected:
Meanwhile, some BlackBerry users reported delays in service in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, according to RIM.
“There is no system-wide outage, however we are investigating reports that some users in EMEA have experienced delays,” a RIM spokesperson said in a statement. “We will update you as soon as possible.”
The rumors of BlackBerry delays come a month after RIM’s “largest-ever network disruption,” which came when the backup systems failed in mid-October. Some voice calling functions were accessible during the BlackBerry outage, but internet and text messaging services were impacted by the worldwide BlackBerry service disruption.
