TechMediaNetwork, the technology media company behind several science and tech sites, has raised $33 million in Series B funding.
The company publishes LAPTOP, Space.com, TopTenREVIEWS and TechNewsDaily, and works with syndication partners including Yahoo!, MSNBC.com, Fox News and CBS News, as well as advertisers- with American Express, AT&T, Canon, General Motors, HP, Kodak, Sony, Symantec, Toyota and Warner Bros. on their roster of clients.
The fresh round of funding is expected to be used for further acquisitions as well as beefing up the company’s content in science and tech verticals, and TechMediaNetwork CEO Jerry Ropelato commented in a press release:
“Both organically and through complementary acquisitions, we are constantly looking to strengthen and broaden our expansion in the technology news market… The increased reach and influence of our network will continue to deliver more value to our readers, affiliates and advertising partners.”
ABS Capital Partners led the funding round, with participation from previous investors, including Village Ventures and Highway 12 Ventures. Ralph Terkowitz of ABS Capital commented:
“We have been searching for a leading technology-oriented internet and mobile publishing business, believing that quality technology content attracts advertisers and ecommerce transactions. TMN is a leader in this space… We really liked their approach of providing ‘news you can use’ technology content which is highly attractive to consumers and small businesses alike. We look forward to working with the team as they continue to build on their lead in this important vertical.”
