UK newspaper The Guardian has joined the ongoing push by the UK press for American page views with the launch of a new US specific site: guardiannews.com.
The Guardian’s US Editor in Chief Janine Gibson said that the new page was “just one page today, but we hope that by presenting a targeted homepage, we’ll be able to better display the stories that are most relevant to our US readers.”
The Guardian will also be hiring a new US team of writers and editors to provide more US content for both local, and international readers.
Visitors in the United States will be redirected to the new page by default when trying to visit guardian.co.uk, but will be able to switch back to the UK edition via a button on the top left hand side of the site.
